Dr. Harley is an Assistant Professor of Biology at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul Minnesota. She is a neurophysiologist who’s research has focused on how simple nervous systems create complex behavior. She received her PhD from Case Western Reserve University and performed postdoctoral research at the California Institute of Technology and University of Minnesota. She is passionate about teaching (especially physiology) as she finds it a continual source of inspiration. Her goal in creating this foundation was to help reduce the gender gap in academia by helping women to overcome some of the difficulties created by the dual role of scholar and mom. Harley is mother to a 3 year old boy who was born just a few months prior to the start of her faculty position.
